Must dos while you stay with us!
Out and about:
Seek out the sea fishing and bird life at Salthouse - frothy cappuccinos sold at the beach. Enjoy the fantastic coastal walks with a little help from the Coasthopper bus service, which stops in Salthouse.
You can't come to North Norfolk and not see the seals at Blakeney Point - (www.beansboattrips.co.uk or www.norfolksealtrips.co.uk).
Ideal for bird watching: watch out for barn owls, marsh harriers, bearded tits and bitterns. We are closely located to Pensthorpe (where the BBC Spring and Autumnwatch programmes have been filmed). You may also like to visit the RSPB Titchwell Nature Reserve.
Thursford is only 15 minutes' drive - explore the steam museum and book in for the unmissable Christmas Spectacular held every year (www.thursford.com).
The wide, open skies and light of North Norfolk have inspired many artists and you will find art galleries a plenty in Holt and in the surrounding villages. Check out the Norfolk Open Studios and St Jude's Gallery, specialists in British print making and design based in nearby Itteringham.
There is an annual month-long contemporary art exhibition set in the beautiful setting of Salthouse church, and don't miss the Salthouse Sculpture Trail
Take a picnic, which you can enjoy in the gardens of nearby Blickling or Felbrigg Hall.
And if local history interests you don't forget to visit Burnham Thorpe, the birthplace of Admiral Lord Nelson (photograph courtesy of TourNorfolk).
Food:
Enjoy a leisurely lunch and yummy cake at the delicious Wiveton Hall Farm Café (pictures above). Fabulous views overlooking the marshes and a farm shop selling produce grown on the farm.
Another great farm shop is the unmissable Back to the Garden, just off the A148 from Holt heading towards Fakenham.
One of the best views in North Norfolk? Visit the Norfolk Wildlife Trust's Cley Marshes Visitor Centre (sip a coffee in the café here and drink in the breathtaking panoramic views).
Sample the delights of the award-winning Rutland butchers for mouthwatering meat in nearby Melton Constable.
There are some excellent pubs near us including The Earle Arms in Heydon. This picture postcard village is a popular setting for filmmakers. Also there's The Hunny Bell on the green in neighbouring Hunworth and The Bell at Wiveton.
